saving sunday. and, you're all invited

sunday.
i think it's probably my favorite day of the week.
i can begin again; forget what i may have messed up on the week before, and face the new week with a refreshed new spirit.
when i was young, my sundays were slow and easy visits with or to my grandparents, squeezing in the last bit of play, and often a sunday meal with some rest in the afternoon.
my, how things have changed. and often i think, not for the better.

with the hustle and bustle of summer now behind me, school schedules falling into place and my surroundings displaying signs of shorter days, there is an urge to slow down. so, i am taking a photo from each sunday, beginning today, to quietly reflect on what i will make of the week ahead. a moment or memory captured that i can look back on during the week when time becomes short, phone calls too many, the mail brings nothing but bills, and i'm just plain at my wits end.

did i take a minute or two, or more (with any luck) for myself, to notice a spider web, put down the phone and pick up the sketchbook, or sit with my cup of coffee instead of running with it to lord knows where? sometimes it's a challenge to find even five minutes for ourselves, but even more so during our busy weeks.

so here, in this space, i'm saving sunday, or a small part of it at least, for me.

care to join me and save a little bit of sunday? share the link to your photo here in the comments below, or visit this group over at flickr. add your thoughts to your capture, or let the photo be enough.

have a good week. xo

Such a great idea... Around here so often Sunday turns into a broken record of "did you finish your homework?" rather than the peaceful, relaxing, family-filled day I think it is meant to be.

Good for you for taking Sunday back :-)
